Besides being a favorite summertime treat for many of us, ice cream sandwich now has a new meaning. Google's Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is its latest operating system for its smartphone and tablet computer products.
According to the product's website, the Android Ice Cream Sandwich is primarily focused on being as user friendly as possible. The operating system allows for better display and interaction through high-resolution screens, more animation and a new typeface.
The new system also includes "virtual buttons," which allow for easier navigation.
"Virtual buttons in the System Bar let you navigate instantly to Back, Home and Recent Apps. The System Bar and virtual buttons are present across all apps, but can be dimmed by applications for full-screen viewing," reads Android's website. "You can access each application's contextual options in the Action Bar, displayed at the top [and sometimes also at the bottom] of the screen."
To add to its accessibility, the Android Ice Cream Sandwich offers a People app that saves more information about your contacts, such as larger versions of their profile picture, email accounts and even status updates from them on social media. Plus, integrating your contacts for other apps and functions is easier than ever - but there are also controls to protect them from being exposed unnecessarily.
Other features include visual voicemail, home screen folders for grouping apps, a lock screen that still lets you take pictures and play music, the ability to respond to an incoming call with an automatic text, improved text and voice input and increased control over your network configuration.
