In an effort to compete with Apple laptops and computers, PC makers have continually been improving their services to a sect of the market that many say is underserved by Mac computers - avid gamers. And on April 30, Dell made one of the most aggressive moves yet, officially releasing three new laptops powered with Intel's new Ivy Bridge processors.
According to reports, the lineup features laptops in three sizes, 14 inches, 17.3 inches and 18.4 inches, all of which included mobile graphics powered by Advanced Micro Devices and Nvidia.
"Our customers want the most immersive gaming experience possible, and we've taken the all-powerful M14x, M17x and M18x laptops and made them even better, delivering the latest technologies for almost every need," Alienware general manager Frank Azor in a statement regarding the release.
In addition, PC World noted that all three of the laptops will run Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate, and offer advanced audio.
Still, with a price tag that starts at more than $1,000 for the smallest version, avid gamers may want to consider more cost-effective ways to improve their enjoyment of their favorite games. For example, many laptop owners are able to soup-up their computers by customizing the mobile graphics, adding new software and lighting controls and upgrading the CPU and processor.
By making some of these tweaks, gamers can achieve a smoother experience, while saving their hard-earned money for the latest game offerings. At PortableOne, we have the experience to customize Sony Vaios, Apple Macbook airs, Toshiba laptops and more with memory drive upgrades, custom OS installs and hard drive upgrades.
