Earlier this week, it was announced that the popular video messaging service Skype would no longer be available on Macs that run on OS Snow Leopard 10.5.8 or below. Users began to notice how the feature stopped running before Microsoft made the information known to the public. While this has caused outrage among those who enjoy using Skype, there might just be some good news after all.
Apple website 9to5Mac reported on Friday, August 8 that those who find they can no longer use Skype due to having an outdated computer no longer have to worry, as there is a solution coming for this problem. Skype has not been downloadable on the old Macs for the last few days, but a spokesperson for Skype told the source that there will be a new version available for these people soon.
"We have a Skype version for Mac OS X 10.5 users which will soon be available for download," the spokesperson said directly to 9to5Mac.
There have yet to be any concrete details of when users can expect to see this new version available for public download. As soon as it is let out, people will be able to go back to sending messages and video chatting without any more interruptions. The download will only be available for computers that run on Mac OS Leopard only, so those who are still on 10.4 or below will still need to upgrade to use Skype.
