With all of the commotion over Apple mobile devices like iPhones and iPads, sometimes it seems like their good ol' fashioned desktops and laptops are overlooked. But, since its recent unveiling at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco, the new generation 15-inch Macbook Pro has tech reporters buzzing.
The first thing PCMag's Joel Domingo noticed was that the device didn't look radically different from previous Macbook Pros. It even had the same feel to it, although it wasn't as heavy as other 15 inch notebooks and laptops that are available. But this, Domingo says, is good, because so much of Apple's appeal is based on its distinct design.
Although it does resemble other Macbook Pros, the new device has a lot in common with the Macbook Air, with a similar weight, keyboard and function key layout.
Compared to older generation Macbook Pros, this device is slicker and performs certain tasks - like copying a file from one folder to another - much quicker.
However, the biggest improvement is the 2,880 x 1,800 pixel retina display, which reportedly gives the device the highest resolution of any notebook on the market. And a higher resolution means that everything - every image, every word document, etc. - will look clearer and crisper than ever. Even lifelong Windows users may consider PC to Mac migration after seeing this model.
These devices come with the Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4, but the source reports that those who purchase this laptop now can be eligible for a free upgrade to the new Mountain Lion operating system when it is finally released.
