Over the last few weeks, Apple has been rolling out beta versions of its newest mobile operating system, iOS 8. There have already been two tested versions of the new OS released to a select group of developers and users throughout the month of June, and a new report indicates that there will be a third one made available, but not until Tuesday, July 8.
Apple announced that it would be releasing a new operating system at the 2014 Worldwide Developers Conference that was held in early June, nearly a full year after the iOS 7 was first released. The report of the third version of the beta testing stage was first reported by the website BGR at the end of last week, a website that is notoriously accurate with Apple information.
If this release date proves to be true, it will be on a slightly delayed schedule than what Apple typically follows. New releases for beta systems are rolled out in two-week intervals, with the first iOS 8 being released in the first week of June, and the second beta coming out on June 17. The report does not specify any specific reasons for the delay in the new release.
Although BGR believes to have the correct date for the third iOS 8 beta version, it is not known what new updates the system is going to come with. For the second beta, the iPhone incorporated a built-in podcast app, while the iPad debuted with the QuickType keyboard, which suggests words to users as they type. Both of these features are expected to carry over.
