One of the major complaints against any new piece of technology - whether a Macbook Pro or a device from an Apple competitor - is the battery life. A battery that gives out and shuts down our smartphone or laptop when we need it the most is an issue that all consumers have faced at one point or another. It can be a hassle, particularly if you are somewhere without immediate access to a charger. But Apple might now be working to change all of that, according to a new report.
As first reported by The Daily Mail, Apple has secretly gone into business with Intelligent Energy, a fuel-cell firm. Although neither company has publicly disclosed a partnership, inside sources have revealed that the two tech giants are indeed working together on a new project - creating a new kind of battery that would allow Apple's products to be able to run for "days or even weeks" before running out of enough juice to be powered. This would be a major improvement over what is currently available.
Although it is believed that the two companies are working together - Intelligent Energy recently opened up an office near Apple's headquarters - it could be a few years before the new battery is available with any new Apple smartphone or computer. This seems to be a partnership to watch though, particularly if you are interested in owning an iPhone or iPad mini that will be able to last significantly longer while not connected to a wall charger.
