Over the course of the last few months, rumors have been swirling in the technology world about the iPhone 6 - what new features it will include, what it will look like and when it will be released. While the tech giant has remained characteristically quiet on the subject, a new report from AppleInsider says that the world is much closer to the next-generation iPhone than we might have originally thought.
According to the source, Apple has scheduled a "big media event" for Tuesday, September 9. It has not been explicitly said what the event is going to entail, but insiders are confident that this will be the moment that CEO Tim Cook finally shows off the new smartphone that the company has been hard at work developing.
"Apple has scheduled a big media event for Tuesday, Sept. 9 — a date to which Apple numerologists will strain to attribute significance. As with September events past, the focal point of this one is to be Apple's next-generation iPhones, which are expected to feature larger displays of 4.7 and 5.5 inches and run speedy new A8 processors. Apple declined comment," wrote Re/code's John Paczkowski.
This event will come about a month before Apple's other majorly-anticipated item - the iWatch - which is commonly believed to release sometime in October. As of yet, there are no major media events scheduled by Apple for that month.
