While Apple often gets most of its attention for its extensive line of portable products - such as the Macbook Pro or iPad mini - it also has a widely popular selection of desktop computers as well. According to a new report from 9to5Mac, the tech giant is going to launch a new version of the Apple iMac next week, with a whole host of updates and improvements.
This is the second time in recent months that Apple has made changes to its line of computers, as there was a refresh of the Macbook Air at the end of this past April. The main difference between the iMacs that are currently being sold and the new version that the company is planning to rollout is the processor, with an upgrade expected to make the computer run much faster.
The most likely event is that Apple is going to make the central processor of the iMac faster by increasing some configurations by at least 100 megahertz (MHz) for its 27-inch iMac model, while also making some slight adjustments to the 21.5-inch model. Along with these tech upgrades, Apple is expected to cut the price to make these machines more affordable.
The reason that the report believes that the iMac will be available for slightly less than what it is being sold for now is that the upgraded Macbook Air was also released with a price cut. The general public will likely know whether or not a new version of this machine is going to be available sometime over the next week or so, though Apple has not yet made any official announcement.
