Many people nowadays are looking to live more energy-efficient lives, whether they are doing so to help the environment or simply save money on monthly utility bills. But the shift to environmental awareness is not only happening on a residential level, but also in the corporate world. According to a new report from Greenpeace, Apple is leading the way to a more sustainable internet.
The technology giant has made major strides in reducing the impact it has on the environment over the last two years, including making improvements to the popular iCloud feature, which now uses 100 percent renewable energy. In addition to this, Apple owns and operates the largest privately-owned solar installation in the United States, its data collecting center in North Carolina.
Greenpeace evaluated 19 major technology companies and their energy consumption for its Clicking Green study. It surveyed over 300 data centers belonging to these companies across the United States, with the report finding that no one else can match the bar being set by Apple. The report called Apple "innovative and aggressive" in its goal to rely solely on renewable sources of energy, making rapid changes over the past 24 months to be a leader in both the technology and green industries.
While Apple is becoming more dedicated to improving the environment, it is also still producing some of the highest-quality electronic devices in the world.
