We've all done it at some point in our lives - sending a text message or email to the wrong person. Although we try and be careful while using our smartphones and tablets, mistakes happen and can often create an embarrassing or awkward situation. Now, Apple has filed a new patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that could help prevent this situation from happening to you.
The patent application calls for what Apple is calling a "generation of a user interface based on contacts." What this boils down to, essentially, is that the iPhone or iPad will be able to recognize the number of the person you are communicating with and insert a picture of that individual into the background of the conversation. This way, you have a visual reminder of who is in the conversation.
This will also be available for group chats, as the text is overlapped on top of one or more images, depending on who is included in the message. The system will be able to recognize when a user has received a text or email and will then identify and produce the picture of the person associated with that correspondence. If the contact does not have an assigned photo in the smartphone's database, a generic female or male avatar will instead be provided.
Apple has not yet publicly stated when or if this feature will be included in the future generations of the iPhone or iPad.
