Microsoft has been in the news a lot recently due to its decision to end support of its 13-year-old Windows XP system at the beginning of April. But the company made major waves in the tech industry earlier this week with an announcement that many view as something that should have come a long time ago. Microsoft will, this month, unveil a new version of its famous Office suite for Apple's iPad tablets.
Microsoft will officially unveil the new system during a tech conference in San Francisco at the end of this month. The increased speculation as to what Office for iPads will entail follows nearly a year of rumors that Microsoft will make its operating systems compatible with Apple products. The company released an iOS version of Office for the iPhone in June 2013, and began working on an iPad version almost immediately after, according to new reports.
Rumors indicate that the iPad version of Office will look very similar to what already exists for the iPhone. Document creation and editing will be fully available for the range of Office features, including Word, Powerpoint and Excel. Apple users will be required to pay a subscription to Office 365 in order to have access to all of these applications.
Microsoft developing software for Apple electronics will be a major turning point for the company, as it has seen its stocks rise significantly over the last few days due to just the announcement of the iPad Office. This new partnership will benefit users who are comfortable with both the Microsoft and Apple user formats.
