Now that the Mac Pro has been available for a few days, many tech sites are starting to publish reviews of its performance, particularly in areas such as video editing and graphics where high-powered processors are important. At FCP.co, a site dedicated to video editing news and information, the editors were able to test out a Mac Pro using Apple's professional editing suite Final Cut Pro X. The results of their tests were pretty remarkable.
At first, they began by editing with 4K video footage to see how well the Mac Pro's Intel Xeon processors could handle the workload. To give some perspective, 4K video has four times the resolution of a typical high definition television broadcast. This means that in order to work with this kind of footage, you would need a much faster hardware setup than you typically find in most consumer computers.
The testers found that the Mac Pro not only processed the video in real time without any problems, but there were able to run multiple streams of this video simultaneously, without experiencing any kind of hiccup in performance.
"I've been saying for a while now that working in professional video production - at whatever level - requires the right combination of software and hardware," writes FCP.co's editor Chris Roberts. "4K is here and with FCP X 10.1 and the new Mac Pro, it's finally a reality for the majority of us."
The Mac Pro is now available and is the premiere computing solution for any professional in the video, photography and 3D graphics industries. For more information, visit the PortableOne online store today.
