Earlier this week, Apple fanatics were thrilled to hear that an update of Apple TV would enable the set-top-box to connect to a Bluetooth keyboard. This will greatly improve the search capabilities of the device, and shows that the company is still working on making their pet project even better. And as if this wasn't enough good news about the Apple TV, it came out yesterday that Apple will add HBO Go connectivity to their up-and-coming hardware.
That means that, in addition to watching movies and television shows through iTunes, anyone who has this affordable device can stream shows from Netflix, Hulu plus and now HBO Go, which gives users access to all the network's original content, in addition to the movies and special events that it makes available to subscribers on a temporary basis. This adds more than 600 hours of content to the Apple TV, and could entice more people to buy this device.
Rumors of a complete Apple TV overhaul that have continued to swirl during the past year became bolstered when CEO Tim Cook confirmed that television is "an area of intense interest" for the company. But whether Apple ends up creating its own viewing system or not, the existing set-top box on the market continues to get better, and more and more people are trading in their cable subscriptions for one of these instead.
HBO Go already has an app that allows subscribers to access content on their iPhone, iPad or iPad mini, but this makes the service available on a television as well.
