Apple's iMessage service, which is available on a variety of OS X and iOS products including the MacBook Air and iPad mini, has become a popular option for users to communicate with friends and family. The service allows iPhone and iPad users to send text messages over the Apple-supported network rather than using SMS, which is charged separately on wireless bills.
But ever since Apple released the newest version of iOS 7, some users have complained that some of their messages were not going being sent or received. Apple released a statement on October 2 saying that it had been made aware of the problem and was working on a solution.
"We are aware of an issue that affects a fraction of a percent of our iMessage users, and we will have a fix available in an upcoming software update," Apple said in a statement. "We apologize for any inconvenience this causes impacted users."
Apple didn't announce when an update would be available that would provide a fix. However, it's a good bet that they're working hard on it already, as iOS 7 has already been downloaded by 200 million users, constituting 56 percent of the number of active iOS phones, according to the company.
The company has done an excellent job of providing its users with a bevy of communication tools, including FaceTime and iMessage. Despite the latest issues, these apps continue to garner high ratings from critics and customers.
