The last few months have been dominated by rumors swirling new Apple products like the iPhone 6 and Apple Watch. After the official announcement of those devices early last week, Apple set new records for smartphone preorders, with over four million orders sent in for the iPhone 6 so far. Now, a new report has surfaced that Apple is working on another upgrade, although this time for one of their laptops - the Macbook Air.
Apple insider A Tech Website says that the company is going to release a new 12-inch version of the Macbook Air sometime in early to mid-2015, though a specific date is not given. The report claims to have knowledge directly from Apple itself, although the company has made no public announcement regarding a new generation laptop. The report says that the launch window is very tentative, as it has already been pushed back before.
What is interesting is that the website notes that the colors of the Macbook Air will be expanded from the white and aluminum already available. Taking a page from the more colorful versions of the iPhone, the new computer is rumored to be sold in an array of new colors, including gold and space gray.
Apple has long been rumored to be working on a 12-inch, ultra-sleek and lighter version of the Macbook Air, though it was originally believed to be ready for a 2014 launch. If the company does opt for more colorful models, it will be a major step forward in changing the established aesthetic of the tech giant's iconic devices.
