As a leading technology company, Apple is often ahead of the curve when it comes to developing new devices for our everyday lives. Apple has been busy making preparations for its new smart car technology - CarPlay - but also has another deal in the works that will take it into an area it has not previously done business in: Hearing aids.
According to a report by CNN, Apple has partnered with Danish hearing aid company GN ReSound and last week announced plans to create a new hearing aid that is compatible with the iPhone. Officially known as LiNX, the device syncs wirelessly with the newest generation of Apple's signature smartphone and is able to utilize the new iOS 7's accessibility options.
The LiNX device is essentially a hybrid of a hearing aid and wireless Bluetooth headphones. Many of the iPhone's features - phone calls, music, movies, navigation - can be streamed directly into the earpiece. If users are not pulling the audio from a smartphone or tablet, the device works as a normal hearing aid, able to pick up the sounds from surrounding areas.
As an Apple product, the new hearing aid comes with plenty of additional features that can be used by each person. The most interesting app is called Listen Live, which turns the smartphone into a microphone, where the noise can be streamed directly from the mic to the hearing aid. This will allow a person to focus in on one person's voice if they are in a noisy environment.
