The newest operating system update for the iPhone - iOS 8 - was released early last week. While there has been a lot of attention in the news lately on the release of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, the truth is that the iOS 8 still allows for a lot of changes on older model smartphones. There are a myriad of options that allow you to alter the display, security settings, input and privacy of your phone, all at your discretion. This blog post will cover some of the best ways to use your iPhone's upgraded OS.
Here are a few of those tips:
- Enable backup: Should you lose or damage your phone, you can still make sure that all of the information and pictures on it are safe. Simply go to the iCloud setting on your phone and turn it on. This way, as long as the iPhone is connected to WiFi, it will automatically save everything to iCloud.
- Find your iPhone: If you should ever be in the unfortunate situation where your iPhone is lost, you can work to retrieve it by using the Find Your Phone feature. Activating this app - which is located under Settings and iCloud - will switch on the phone's Location setting and show an emergency contact number on the display screen. You will also be emailed the approximate whereabouts of the phone.
- Shut off repeat alerts: We have all been in the situation where we think we have a new message coming through, but it is simply one from a few minutes ago that was set to go off again. In order to shut off this repeat alert, simply go under Settings then to Notifications and Messages and turn "Repeat Alerts" to never.
