One of the things that has made Apple so successful in recent years is its incredibly intuitive mobile software. This well-designed operating system is so easy to use that literally anyone can understand it almost instantly. And, the company was able to use its great iPhone software to run the iPad as well, because even though these devices have different dimensions, their similar design allows users to understand and interact with them in the same way.

This user interface has become an iconic part of the Apple experience, looking largely the same across six major updates and four platforms, now that the iPad mini uses it as well. But, according to analysts from forecasting firm Jefferies, that could all change in the coming year.

Peter Misek of the organization recently issued a statement suggesting that Apple could release a large-scale update on the design of the software this year. Industry experts agree that this would make a lot of sense, since Jony Ive, design expert  and archenemy of so-called skeumorphic design - where the computerized version of a given tool closely resembles the real-life object - has been placed in charge of software look and feel as well.

Additionally, the firm cited the fact that Apple might be inspired to redesign the software in order to maintain a competitive place with court-rival Samsung.

If the design team from the company in Cupertino decides to change the user interface of iOS, chances are that the update will make it even more user-friendly and intuitive than it already is.
