The Apple rumor mill is picking up steam as we approach September 10, when it is expected that the company will announce new iPhones and the release of its iOS 7 software. There are lots of unconfirmed reports that Apple will be doing this or that before such events, but one thing most industry observers agree on is that they won't be releasing new iPads or an update to the iPad mini.
"It... contradicts everything we've heard thus far about Apple's fall iOS Device launch plans from our sources," says 9to5Mac, an Apple news site that is generally accurate in its prognostications.
While it has been almost a year since the company unveiled the iPad mini, it seems unlikely they would debut many new products at one event. Apple likes to generate a lot of hype for each line, and updating so many new items at once would cut into the buzz and attention for each one.
The release of the next iPhone is a critical moment for Apple, which have seen more heated competition in the mobile marketplace now that Samsung and Google are producing smartphones and tablets that some think are competitive in terms of both feature set and price. This has put a lot of pressure on Apple CEO Tim Cook to release an update to the iPhone that will reassert the company as the king of mobile hardware and software.
If you've been holding out for the new iPad, you may want to reconsider as it's unclear when the company will get around to releasing a new one. Instead, check out the PortableOne online store, where you can pick up the latest Apple tablet.
