In addition to the business and personal computing worlds, tablets are becoming a highly visible and important part of the educational landscape in this country. Much in the way that PCs became a standard component of schooling in the 1990s, more institutions are incorporating Apple iPads and similar products (though mostly iPads) into curricula. These efforts are seen as a way of improving the delivery of lesson plans by teachers and creating better engagement with students.

A recent story on the website of local affiliate KQTV.com discusses the success of a program that gave iPads to kindergarten students to use over the summer. Upon returning for the new school year, the program's teacher stated that her pupils had vastly improved in many areas of learning, which meant that they could continue their progress more rapidly at the beginning of the year rather than spending time reviewing concepts from the previous grade.

"They are just doing so many really rigorous objectives for the third week of school and it's because we had that relationship built," Eagle Cliffs Elementary School 1st Grade Teacher Courtney Niemeyer told the source. "They knew the procedures and we were just able to get started right away."

The Apple iPad mini provides a great way for students to continue learning during summer breaks when they typically fall behind and regress in their education.
