It probably comes as no surprise to many owners of the Apple iPad 4 and iPad mini that these devices are still the most popular in the country, given how little you hear about competitors in this market place. But in fact, there are other tablets, such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab or the Amazon Kindle Fire, so one wonders if these systems are gaining a foothold in what is quickly becoming a crowded market.
In terms of which users are spending more time on the internet with their device, the answer is an emphatic no. According to online advertising network Chitika, 82.4 percent of tablet Web traffic in May 2013 came from an Apple iPad, whether it's the fourth or some previous generation. This is an astounding level of market dominance.
The next closest competitor in this metric is the Amazon Kindle Fire, which accounted for 6.5 percent, while Samsung's tablets generated 4.7 percent.
"While there are a number of players in the tablet marketplace, Apple clearly dominates the market, and managed to increase its usage share lead this past month," said Chitika on its website. "This rise could be due to increased sales of refurbished iPad models in advance of the expected fall release of the next iPad, which would have impacted share figures across the board."
Although there are other choices in this market, these numbers indicate that iPad users likely spend a lot of time on their devices and find them more useful than those with competing products at home and in the workplace. It may have something to do with the intuitive, simple and clean interface of the iOS mobile operating system and the way it makes internet browsing seemingly effortless.
