CompactOS is a Windows 10 feature that fits the purpose of providing a way to install Windows 10 on smaller devices with less storage capacity, as low as 16GB, and it works by automatically detecting the size of the hard drive, at which point Windows 10 makes a determination whether to activate CompactOS or not.

Microsoft Surface is a concept that seems to transcend mere hardware, and Microsoft’s focus on ubiquity of services encompass IoT in ways that go beyond smart homes and wearables, and play directly on the automotive playing field, where Apple and Alphabet Inc are already well invested.

According to a new patent filed by Microsoft, titled: “Fingerprint Detection With Transparent Cover”, the possibility that we’ll see a Surface Phone this Fall or early next year is becoming very real, with a big hint on the kind of changes we might find also in future Surface touchscreen products, like the Surface Pro tablet, and Surface Book.

Running better, however, does not equate to running more safely, as decent a job as Windows Defender does in keeping common threats at bay, there are a few caveats that one must consider when running Windows 10 on older hardware, and many of the latest security features that are common on new laptops and tablets, may not be available on older PCs.
