iPhone "line-sitter" companies will be waiting in line for you.
How much are you willing to pay to be the first to own the new iPhone 6?
NYC Local residents Jason and Moon Ray paid $2500 to secure second place in line at Apple’s NYC Flagship, right behind BuyBackWorld’s Ceballo and Joseph Cruz, who have made over $7000, in what’s becoming a proper “line-waiting” business.
S.O.L.D., or “Same Ole Line Dudes” is another company which has recently taken 7 orders for the iPhone 6, and one additional reseller inquiry.
In a phone interview with S.O.L.D. founder Robert Samuel, CNBC gathered that Samuel’s prediction for September 19, as the official release date for the iPhone 6, might be accurate, at least according to Apple’s yearly trends.
The idea behind Robert Samuel’s S.O.L.D., spawned soon after his firing from AT&T, ironically over his lack of punctuality. Samuel reportedly posted an ad on Craigslist, offering to wait in line for the launch of an Apple iPhone, as long as 19 hours, which netted Samuel $325. Initially started as “Same Ole Line Dude”, the “Dude” turned into “Dudes”, as Samuel’s business flourished.
iPhones are not the only hot item. SOLD’s most popular orders include Dominique Ansel Bakery’s Cronuts, an all-time NYC favorite, for which Samuel offers a $60 flat rate, for two.
SOLD’s motto seems to be “Whatever you want, we wait for it”, as quoted from Samuel’s words, and since its launch, the company has put to work over a dozen employees, waiting in line for the hottest and most sought-after items, including the now highly anticipated iPhone 6, which is likely to keep line-sitters waiting in line for a record-breaking two weeks, if not longer.
