Xbox app for Windows 10 update lets users remote control Xbox One
Microsoft has announced new updates for the Windows 10 Xbox app, including improved user experience and functionality. bringing the app several steps closer to what we have been expecting since the first Windows 10 event.
Some of the highlighted features are making way for the kind of social experience Microsoft has announced on stage, as it continues to work towards making Xbox its own social network. By that token, a “YouTube-esque” view for game clips is now available, where gamers can showcase their own clip and watch others ranked by popularity.
The activity feed has been revamped as well with the added ability to “like” other users activity, and delete your own.
Richer user profiles, now collapsed by default, are also part of the experience, with room to show additional information. Additionally, taking a page from Google Play, Xbox users can now search games using the Friends Search box, to see what games other users are playing, and their scores.
The app’s resizing has also improved, making the Xbox universal app truly responsive on laptops, Windows Phones, tablets and large screens.
Speaking of large screens, the app is now able to connect to OneGuide and Universal Remote Control, to flip channels, control the volume, and perform DVR operations directly on any connected TV’s set-top-box.
No more” “i’ll be back, watch my controller!”
One of the Xbox app’s best features included in the latest update is the ability to remote control Xbox One, with a virtual game controller. This allows gamers on laptops, phones, tablets and other Windows 10 devices, to play remotely on an Xbox One console.
We have seen a brief demonstration on stage early this year, but now that this feature is in the hands of users who are testing Windows 10, the company is showing confidence that users will be even more sold on the upcoming new Windows, if they aren’t already.
