Windows 10 gets macOS-like video overlay in Windows PCs

Apple macOS Sierra is about lose the exclusive on the most disrupting time-suck you'll ever experience while on your desktop or laptop.

Video overlays were introduced in macOS Sierra, as well as iOS, for users to enjoy web video, and carry on video calls from their iPad and MacBook. Finally, Windows 10 users will be able to do the same.

The latest Preview build of Windows 10 makes the video overlay feature available for a variety of applications, from video streaming, like Netflix and Hulu Plus, to video calls, with Skype and similar apps.

Video overlays on Windows 10 PCs, provide an alternative to using the built in picture-in-picture mode of your monitor, to source a streaming dongle like Chromecast, or Apple TV, which can be hard to size on the desktop, aside from the messy process of setting up PiP and switch channels, which may sometimes cause temporary display scaling issues due to the momentary switch in resolution.

Video overlays don't need to take into account multiple inputs, and can be activated and deactivated quickly and efficiently, as many Apple users have already been experiencing in macOS Sierra.

While this is still a preview feature, it's definitely on a safe list of features slated to become part of the next big Windows 10 Creators update.
