Papa John’s new Apple TV app lets you binge-watch and order pizza at the same time
We have all been there: Siri is ready to stream your favorite show on Apple TV, or that movie you’ve never watched in theaters because it’s one of those flicks that is just fine on Netflix. Then the stomach grumbles, and it’s one of those days when you just don’t feel like cooking.
The show is about one tap away from transporting you into a whole new universe after a long day, and right then you have a tough decision to make: it’s either a “quick” trip to the grocery store, or ordering pizza from... Apple TV.
Papa John’s Apple TV app is the most recent effort by the company to strengthen its numbers against its arch-rival Domino’s, the latter of which has been hard at work, offering methods of ordering pizza by sending a Tweet, and through the Apple Watch and Amazon Echo.
By this token, Domino’s lag in releasing an app for Apple TV, is at the very least surprising, considering its pioneering track-record in the number of methods one could order pizza. Apple TV is the perfect hub for impulse shopping, and we won’t be surprised if other products and services will join in with easier ways to buy anything from apparel to electronics and beyond, through the Siri remote.
The new app from Papa John’s takes the game one step further by offering an Apple TV version of its “Pizza Builder” app, which lets you customize your pie using Apple TV, and pay for it with Apple Pay, or other methods available from within the app.
Some of the features in Papa John’s Apple TV app include the ability to save and retrieve previous orders, as well as favorite payment methods.
The app is available now on the Apps Store, and it will be included automatically in the coming release of iOS 10, this Fall, to 4th generation Apple TVs, for users who have already downloaded the app on the iPad and iPhone devices.
