Apple CEO Tim Cook was quoted less than two weeks ago, during a shareholder meeting at Apple’s campus in Cupertino, stating that “...you will see us do more in the pro area.”, he then elaborated further by adding that “...the pro area is very important to us. The creative area is very important to us in particular.”.
Cook’s words, although cryptic as usual, may refer to some “unfinished business” in connection with a possible revamp of the Apple Mac Pro, currently the most powerful, and expensive machine in the Mac’s lineup, and yet, quite possible the longest in the tooth.
The Mac Pro was last updated in Summer 2013, which is an astonishingly long time for a Mac lineup to sit quietly, while running on progressively outdated specs.
The Mac Pro is certainly not alone, as the Mac Mini is another Mac line skipping a sorely needed refresh in years, while Apple focuses nearly all of its resources on iMac, MacBook Pro and iPad products.
TO comment about an increased focus on professional demographics, after launching a whole new line of MacBook Pro laptops is something that can be interpreted in different ways, but one Apple fans like best, is a scenario that sees an update of the Mac Pro, especially considering that Apple is beginning to feel the heat from Microsoft, after last year’s launch of Microsoft Surface Studio, which some have already called the ultimate PC for creative professionals and design firms.
Currently there is no evidence, or leaks to support a Mac Pro comeback, even from the most far-fetched rumor-mills, which may mean everything, or nothing.
Rumors regarding the 2015 MacBook dated back to 2013, and up until its release, everyone believed Apple was going to unveil an updated MacBook Air.
Rumors concerning the 12.9 inch iPad Pro, prior to its release were taken with a grain of salt at best, and suddenly, the world realized Apple has not only created a 12.9 inch iPad, but it also designed one of the best stylus pens on the market, for it, the Apple Pencil.
Predicting Apple’s next move is extremely difficult, especially for products set to revolutionize the way we work and use technology. This is why we often rely on those with a finger on Apple’s pulse, such as KGI Securities chief analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, as well as top investment firms around the world.
All we know, so far, is that Apple is getting ready for a big Mac announcement, possibly this month, where new iMac models are expected to be unveiled.
The odds of seeing a brand new Mac Pro are not very good, with that said, Apple has surprised us before.
