Microsoft Windows 10 vending machines and kiosks are coming
One of Windows 10’s selling points to enterprise is it’s ability to power IoT devices and Point-Of-Sale hardware. Most recently, at the National Retail Federation in New York City, Microsoft has showcased some interesting technologies set to revolutionize the way consumers interact with kiosks and other types of vending machines.
One of the products on display at the “Big Show 2016”, was the “diji-touch” interactive vending machine, which provides users with a 40-inch touchscreen that can be used to select any kind of packaged treats. the interface portrays products in 3D, and is capable of displaying nutritional information about each product, as well as a variety of payment options.
Australian wireless telecommunication company Telstra is also in the process of updating its stores in Sydney and Melbourne, with interactive kiosks powered by Windows 10. Telstra’s staff has also been provided with Windows 10 tablets, that enable staff to tend to each customer quicker, without the need to be at a counter.
International retailer Macy’s has also been providing its staff with Surface tablets fitted with a custom Azure-based dashboard, built to make it easier for store employees to help customers.
Similar trends have been observed in companies like AVA Retail, FreedomPay, L’Oreal Paris, and Virgin Atlantic Airways.
According to a recent announcement, Microsoft has reported more than 76% of enterprises are currently testing out adoption of Windows 10, within their organizations.
