Microsoft Windows 10 still killing it in enterprise
While it’s true that Microsoft will likely miss the target of one “bazillion” devices by the year 2018 (really?), the fact remains that Windows 10 continues to gain traction in enterprise, as companies keep upgrading their systems to Microsoft’s latest and greatest version of Windows, also according to figures provided by UK data processing firm Context, who places Windows 10 adoption atop Windows 7, with 24% Windows 10 business PCs sold to businesses in this last quarter of 2016, compared to 18% in July and 16% in June.
In plain English, Windows 10 is making a killing in enterprise, and this should come as no surprise, considering the enormous advantages of this operating system compared to any previous versions.
Starting from security, a hot button issue of every enterprise, the substantial improvements in BitLocker, and the addition of Windows Hello, make Windows 10 one of the most secure operating systems around, not to mention the ability to encrypt data down to the single file, and keep that encryption quality all the way from the local C drive to external storage drives, wireless or wired.
Windows 10 also offers a lot of cool features to manage users within an organization, through enhanced group policies, as well as an easier than ever BYOD deployment mechanism that allows to manage multiple devices, and use peer-to-peer technology to keep them up to date.
Speaking of updates, Windows 10 is also in constant active development, with new builds and cumulative updates coming in much more frequently than for any previous version of Windows. Whenever a bug is reported or found, Microsoft is able to patch it up immediately and to a massive scale, using Windows Update. This also means that if an update contains a few glitches, which is understandable with any operating system, including Mac OS X and Linux (although apparently only Windows gets the flack for it), Microsoft is able to provide fixes quickly and efficiently, in a way that Windows 7 and Windows XP users would never dream of.
Aside from that, Windows 10 is also a responsive operating system, unlike its predecessors, which is able to run on tablets, and all-in-ones as well as desktop PCs.
Another important fact in aid to Windows 10’s popularity is Microsoft Office, which has its very own Insider program set to improving the experience of MS Office users. So far, MS Office is one of the most powerful and versatile productivity tools available, with apps designed not only for Windows 10, but also Android and iOS. This ubiquity helps businesses feel more connected and comfortable within the OneDrive/Windows 10 ecosystem, in a way that is increasingly similar to Apple and Google apps.
