Microsoft Windows 10 Preview Build 14332 inches closer to the Anniversary Update
Tuesday April 26th, the Windows team has released Build 14332, to Windows Insiders in the fast ring. The new build comes with a laundry list of updates, new features, fixes, as well as a small number of bugs, unusually low for a package this hefty.
Preview Build 14332 is also as close a build as it gets to the anticipated Anniversary update, due this summer, which is expected to bring some impressive features pertaining to security, and user experience.
Improved Bash
With the previous build, Windows 10 Insiders had a first glimpse at Ubuntu, from within the Windows 10 command prompt. By simply typing “bash” in the console, Insiders can access a full, native version of the Bash command shell, and be able to run Linux scripts without emulation. For a first version of Bash in Windows 10, the experience wasn’t bad at all, albeit a few kinks.
Build 14332 brings some substantial improvement to Bash in Windows 10, including no more networking issues preventing Bash from accessing the Internet, which has been dealt with originally, by modifying a specific configuration file to enable connectivity for applications like apt-get.
The Windows team has kept working on improving the experience for users of the Command Prompt as well. With this build, the prompt will scale better on High-DPI screens, and feature better font selection and rendering, as well as improved cursor rendering.
Cortana and Office 365
Cortana’s search capability now extend to Office 365 content, including contacts, email, OneDrive files (both on Business and SharePoint), and calendar.
Connected Standby PC’s
Connected Standby is a feature that allows certain services to run and connect to the Internet while a PC is on standby mode. Some issues with battery life arose prior to this build for owners of Surface devices, as well as a number of other portable systems. With this latest update, Insiders will experience improved and consistent battery life when on standby.

Issues
- Feedback Hub is in English only, and is not localized. It also takes about 30 minutes to hydrate itself.
- The Desktop App Converter Preview will not run on this build. Developers looking to use the Converter app might want to skip this build entirely.
- Tencent games will not work
- When the UAC window is triggered, Alt+Y will not work, forcing the user to click on the Yes button.
- DRM protected content might not play, i.e. Groove Music, Movies & TV, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video and Hulu.
- Using some of the new emoji will result in empty square boxes displaying on certain apps.
- Extensions in Microsoft Edge are removed and will need to be reinstalled
