Microsoft Surface Hub pricing and specs announced


It’s official: on July 1st, business customers will be able to order the world’s biggest Windows 10 touchscreen tablet, the Microsoft Surface Hub.

The device will be available in two configurations and sizes. Its entry-level, 55 inches configuration, weighing in at 105lb, will set business customers back $6,999, while the more expensive, 84 inches version, will cost $19,999, and will weigh 280lb.

The hardware configuration for the 55 inches version will include a 100 point, 1920x1080x120Hz resolution, multi touch display with a contrast ratio of 1300:1, powered by a 4th generation Intel Core i5 processor and Intel HD 4600 Graphics. The 84 inches version will be powered by an 4 Gen Intel Core i7, and an nVidia Quadro K2200 GPU, and features 3840 x 2140 x 120Hz and a 1400:1 contrast ratio.

Both the 55 inches and the 84 inches versions will feature 128GB SSD and 8GB of RAM, as well as identical connectivity hardware, both wireless and wired, featuring a Wired 1Gbps Ethernet port, 802.11ac/802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth® 4.0, NFC Reader and Miracast.

Also, both versions will feature identical PC ports, enabling up to three PCs to connect directly with the Hub, as well as external screens:

According to the Surface Hub’s product page, the three configurations available include:

Internal PC

This group of connectors features one USB 3.0 and one USB 3.0 available on the side, two USB 2.0 ports, one Ethernet 1000 Base-T, one DisplayPort Video Output, 3.5mm Stereo Out jack, one RS232 Serial Port, and an RJ11 Connector for system level control.

Alternate PC

This secondary array includes two USB 2.0 type B output ports, and connection for camera, sensors, microphone, speakers, Touchback™, and one DisplayPort Video Input.

Guest PC

This last array includes one DisplayPort Video Input, one HDMI Video Input, one VGA Video Input, 3.5mm Stereo Input jack and one USB 2.0 type B Touchback™ Output.

Both configuration of the Surface Hub support a subpixel accuracy stylus, high performance element array microphone, front-facing stereo speakers, and two 1080p resolution, 30fps, cameras.

Business customers will be able to get Microsoft Office, the OneNote whiteboard, Skype for Business, and a version of Windows 10 which is especially designed for the Hub, with “...ink and touch at its core...”, as this new device, will be the very first to ship with the new operating system, almost a month before the official commercial release on July 29th.
