Major fixes in Microsoft Windows 10 Insider Preview 14295
Fast ring Windows 10 Insiders have began installing Preview Build 14295, the first major improvement over the past two builds, addressing a number of issues affecting users in different ways.
First off, owners of Xbox One, and 360 controllers can now use the controllers without Windows 10 freezing up.
Microsoft Edge users have also been reporting an issue causing a page refresh when pressing the Tab key in a password field. Microsoft has resolved this issue in the current build.
A number of users reported that apps and games for Xbox, and Xbox Live were blocked from signing in. The issue no longer exists in this build.
Finally, users of Kaspersky Antivirus can now use the Internet security suite, the KS to the collaboration between Microsoft and Kaspersky.
Issues
A small number of issued was also acknowledged by Microsoft in connection with this build.
First, the Narrator app, as well as other kinds of screen readers, will not work with the menu options in the Feedback Hub and Cortana
Glitchy audio has been reported on devices with TPM chips, like the ASUS Zenbook UX31, as well as jumpy movements when using the trackpad on these devices.
The issue is caused by the tpm-maintenance service, which seems to be running constantly on the background, when it should only run once on startup.
Finally, PCs using Windows Hello to sign in, will experience issues affecting Bluetooth, audio glitches and reduced battery life. A temporary workaround is to disable Windows Hello by using the following command on an administrative console:
“reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NgcSvc /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 0x4 /f” and then reboot.
