Evidence found on four new Apple iPad models: will they actually be released?
For some time, rumors had it of a new lineup of Apple iPads to be unveiled sometime this year, but until recently, no real evidence has been provided beyond mere predictions, and phantomatic leaks.
According to mobile marketing company Fiksu, however, turns out that these rumors could have a foundation of truth.
The evidence comes in the form of server logs from Fiksu’s tracking and attribution SDK, which keep track of thousands of apps using it for testing purposes.
Much like in 2015, Fiksu discovered four different iPad devices being tested. The first batch preceding the original 12.9 inch iPad Pro uncovered four internal model names: “6,3/6,4” and “6,7/6,8”, detected in the Cupertino area.
Most recently, models “7,3 | 5”, “7,4 | 10”, “7,2 | 11”, and “7,1 | 17”, were discovered, within the same geolocation.
Typically, detecting one or two devices isn’t a sufficient to determine whether a new device is likely to be released, but this time, Fiksu’s data has found almost 40 iPad devices with the reported internal code names.
Similar to 2015, there is a chance that only two out of four iPad models will be released, also in consideration that some of the code named devices might simply be “crash test dummies”.
The report from Fiksu seems to infer that new Apple iPads, including the 10.5 inch model discussed by KGI Securities, could be released as early as next week.
