Apple influence in Tesla Motors Inc UI design could be only the beginning
Apple Inc seems to have a natural disposition to create synergy with other innovative tech companies. The synergy between Apple and Tesla Motors Inc bestowed the electric auto maker with its touchscreen GUI: the product of mostly former Apple employees, as announced by Tesla Motors head of product design Javier Verdura.
According to reports earlier this year, Apple’s stakes in Tesla Motors might be a little higher than what the two companies are letting out, as rumors of a potential acquisition of Tesla by Apple could turn into a very profitable reality.
Apple’s focus on wearables and home automation is a strong indicator that Apple might be planning to venture into the automotive market, as a most logical next step.
While no official talk has taken place in regard to a possible acquisition, the following indicators point to a very plausible scenario:
- Apple’s experience in automotive technology is very minute, which is why the acquisition of Tesla Motors Inc would be a very good thing for Apple, especially as we near a future in which Google could take the lead with self-driving cars.
- Tesla’s track record since its first prototype built in 2003, has been near-spotless, with a slow but consistent growth, and high profitability.
- Increasing competition with Google, Samsung, and Microsoft, in emerging markets focusing on “The Internet of Things”.
- Circumstantial evidence suggesting such potential merger/acquisition is already in the works.
There is no telling on whether an Apple iCar will ever see the light of day, but current trends suggest increasing focus in consumer products, and services, ever so integrated and connected with each other, making personal transportation a market with a high profitability potential.
