Apple iSwatch? Not likely.
With the Apple iWatch still a long way from any definitive clue on its final design, rumors abound, the latest of which points to a potential partnership between Apple and Swiss fashion-timepiece manufacturer, Swatch, whose brand rocked European high-school halls since 1983, with bright patterns, and very diverse styles from one model to the next, achieving often collector’s item status.
In spite of the catchy name similarity, as well as the fact that the two brands, while at opposite ends of the technological spectrum, have in common a consistent spirit of innovation, the rumors of a possible partnership have been denied by Swatch, in a recent statement.
Having mentioned that, Swatch is the largest watchmaker in the world, and it would not be so surprising to see some of Swatch’ design inspiration, transpire from what we’ll finally be able to see this fall.
The rumors seem even less likely, when looking at the majority of the most plausible evidence in the form of concepts, news leaks from manufacturers and personnel close to the project, which leads to believe the iWatch won’t necessarily look like a regular watch, but rather like a minimalist, yet stylish fitness wrist-band, powered by a version of iOS.
The iWatch might not include Swatch into its design concept development, but that won’t take away from the fact that the device is likely to appeal to fashion enthusiasts as well, considering Apple’s track-record in advanced, functional and innovative design.
