Apple iPad Pro and Apple Pencil receive official FCC approval
The US Federal Communication Commission, has reportedly given its final approval for the Apple iPad and the Apple Pencil, Thursday October 15. The certification, required to ensure safe standards for LTE and WiFi communications on the devices, couldn’t be more timely, as the FCC approval is the last requirement for Apple to be able to commercially release the two new devices, right on schedule, within the next 2 weeks.
The FCC filings confirms previous information that the iPad Pro will feature Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi 801.11 a/b/g/n/ac support, as well as category 4 LTE connectivity, capable of download speeds up to 150Mbps and uploads up to 50Mbps.
As revealed by Apple’s German website, the iPad Pro’s Smart Keyboard will be available with an English layout, at launch, however the new keyboard specifically designed for the iPad Pro will support other languages as well.
While previous rumors cautiously suggested a possible late November release date for the 12.9 inch tablet, the timely FCC approval could be a motivator for Apple to release the new tablet sooner, possibly within the first week of November.
Apple iPad Pro will be released in three signature colors: Space Grey, Silver and Gold, and will be priced starting at $799, in its 32GB entry level configuration, $949 for the 128GB version, and $1079 for the cellular model.
The Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard will be released simultaneously alongside the iPad Pro, and priced respectively at $69, and $169.
