Apple iPad Pro: A10X chip refresh is coming
2016 is going to be a big year for Apple, at least according to rumors of upcoming updates to existing lines, including the 12 inch Retina MacBook, iMac Retina, and possibly, even the Mac Mini. Not much is known about the iPad Pro, on the other hand, as the unveiling of the latest 9.7 inch version is still hot off the presses, and already gunning to replace the iPad Air 2.
With that said, word has it of a possible refresh of the 12.9 inch iPad Pro, which sources say could be an entirely different animal, with updated specs, and named iPad Pro 2.
Apple is expected to make an announcement as early as this year, however there is very little chance that the iPad Pro 2 will hit the shelves earlier than 2017. Sources also mention that the iPad Pro 2 could be powered by the new A10X processor, and its official announcement could happen coincidental with the official release of iOS 10.
If past announcements are of any indication, it’s possible that Apple may release the iPad Pro 2 sometime in March 2017, to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the release of the 2016 9.7 inch iPad Pro.
Much like the current version, the updated iPad Pro will feature 256GB of storage. 4K video recording will also be a strong possibility, as well as True Tone display, and other similar features currently available, like Time-Lapse video with stabilization, and face detection.
Apple has been making strides as an accessory manufacturer, as third party gadget makers have begun releasing some pretty amazing add-ons to the premium-sized tablet. By this token, we wouldn’t be surprised if a more advanced Smart Keyboard is indeed in the making, which is also another plausible rumor.
