Apple iPad Air 2 - Five reasons why it's worth to upgrade
It’s hard not to notice Apple’s renewed innovative drive. Its latest hires and partnership are a testament that Apple is making a stronger push than ever to create next generation devices and services, bound by seamless integration and style. The Apple iPad Air 2 is no exception to the rule, which brings up five main reasons to upgrade from a previous model:
Slimmer design
The thinner design of the iPad Air 2 is not just a stylistic choice. Air gaps have been removed between the device’s internal layers, which results into a more accurate. The new iPad Air 2 now feels as if you are actually touching the pixels, instead of a layer of glass, making your touchscreen experience more precise. The closer distance between the glass cover and the actual touchscreen makes it brighter too, while using less battery power.
The A8X CPU
The latest generation of A-chips has arrived, in the form of the A8X CPU, an unusual 3-Core configuration, comprehensive of 3 Billion transistors. Benchmark tests show JavaScript performance that blow away the previous iPad Air by a large margin. According to tests performed using the SunSpider JavaScript benchmark app, the iPad Air 2 clocked in at 299.2 milliseconds, while the original iPad Air fared at 411.6.
8MP Camera
The improved 8 Megapixel iSight camera is another big improvement over the previous iPad Air. Cropped images show more detail and increased sharpness. With the overall quality improvement of both video and still images, it’s not time to shed the stigma of taking pictures with a tablet.
nVidia Kepler GPU
The new Metal framework API helps developers build 3D applications for iOS, with a substantial performance boost, taking full advantage of the iPad Air 2 nVidia Kepler graphic processor. The Kepler architecture has shown improvements over many GPUs including the Tegra K1.
Touch ID
Perhaps one of the most popular technologies introduced by Apple, and highly anticipated, is the ability to unlock your iPad Air 2 using the Touch ID fingerprint scanner built into the iPad’s home button.
The iPad Air 2 has not only improved, over the original, it changed dramatically, by integrating features that carry over to next generation technologies, for which applications are only now beginning to surface, such as Apple Pay and HealthKit.
