Apple’s showmanship always comes with impeccable timing (all puns intended), next month for the official unveiling of the Apple Watch, in all its iterations, features and price tags. The Cupertino tech giant will finally present the Apple Watch, with “Spring Forward” as the tagline; the unsubtle hint to the daylight savings change occurring the day prior to the event.
The event will be held on Monday March 9, at the Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts Theater, in San Francisco, at 10:00am
The Apple Watch is slated to be available to consumers sometimes in April, according to Tim Cook, who confirmed the news during Apple’s January earning call.
As previously announced, the device will be available in a Sport version (grey or silver anodized aluminum), the “standard” version (polished black or stainless steel), and the much blazoned “Luxury” edition (rose or yellow 18 carat gold). Each model will be offered in two sizes, either 38 mm or 42 mm. The display will feature sapphire crystal. The Sport version is expected to come with a base price tag of $349.
Apple Stores across the country have been installing safes, to protect the brand new wearables, the Luxury version of which is expected to retail for upwards of thousands of dollars.
The Apple iWatch is the first truly new product since the iPad, and a first for the company. The high-tech timepieces are expected to sell in record numbers, as Apple’s orders for the device is in the realm of six million units, or 1.5 million units shy of the iPad, which is currently around 7.5 million units strong.
