$100K Apple iPod Prototype sells on eBay

$100K Apple iPod Prototype sells on eBay

A rare Apple iPod prototype has been sold on eBay for $99,995 by TheAppleGuru, a 960-star eBay seller who’s specialty seems to be rare and unusual Apple devices, such as an Apple prototype In-Ear Headphone($750), a functioning gen-1 Apple iPad ($5000), and even repair services for a Twentieth Anniversary Mac ($550).

While the prototype iPod has a “...small dent on the back that is barely noticeable and some small scuffs/scratches on the back and front...”, the unit is still able to retain battery charge, and function, butthat is not the most interesting thing about this particular item.

This iPod P95 DVT features a red logic board, dated 2002, with the second generation iPod released in 2003, which means that this is a test unit for Apple to develop the second generation iPod. To corroborate the claim, the serial number does not show up in Apple’s serial search.
